Selby Jennings to moderate panel on the future of quants at QuantMinds Americas

We are delighted to announce Oliver Cooke, Managing Director of North America, will be speaking at QuantMinds Americas. This industry-leading quant finance event will take place in Boston from September 9th to 11th, and will be co-located with RiskMinds Americas. QuantMinds Americas will bring together experts from banks, investment managers, regulators, Silicon Valley, academia and beyond, to learn, network and share expertise on the future of the quant industry. Attendees will hear about the latest breakthrough research, as well as the biggest issues facing the industry, from some of the world’s most revered quant thought-leaders.

Earlier this year, Oliver Cooke took part in the QuantMinds conference in Vienna; joining a panel discussion on diversity in quant finance, as well as leading a masterclass about the soft skills needed to excel in the industry. This September, Oliver has been invited back to moderate the much-anticipated panel , “What should we be teaching the next generation of quants?”. The panel will discuss the future of quant talent and skills, as well as exploring how quant modelling compares across different sectors.

Joining the panel are an esteemed selection of speakers, including Afsheen Afshar, Technical Advisor at Aginity Inc. and DotAlign Inc., Alexey Orlovsky, Senior Quantitative Researcher at Akuna Capital, Shimon Senderowitz, Head of Organizational Research and HR Innovation at BlackRock, and Emre Erdogan, Managing Director, Multi-Asset Quantitative Solutions team at Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM).

“Quant is at an inflection point in its evolution. Today, quants serve an integral and business critical function in most financial services organizations and a variety of other industries,” Oliver Cooke said about disruption within the industry. “The role of a quant practitioner has changed dramatically over the last 20 years. I am hoping to glean some amazing insight from our world-class panel about what the next generation of quants will be focused on, and how up-and-coming quants can prepare themselves accordingly.”
