Jennifer Openshaw, Executive Director – Financial Women’s Association

Named "one of the most passionate advocates for women", Jennifer Openshaw is a nationally known financial leader and advocate for economic empowerment.

Jennifer started her career as Press Secretary to California State Treasurer Kathleen Brown and later ran her communications in her run for governor. Jennifer’s financial industry experience includes top roles at leading investment advisory firm Wilshire Associates, Bank of America and BankOne, where she served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing.

Jennifer is perhaps most known as CEO & Founder of Women’s Financial Network, a financial services company created for women, later acquired by Wall Street legend Muriel Siebert. For her work, Jen was named one of the Internet’s 25 Rising Stars.

Jennifer appears regularly in the media—from Oprah and Dr. Phil to CNN and CNBC—and has advised Fortune 500 companies on financial education, technology and communications, including Microsoft, where she also served as spokesperson. She is the author of three books including What’s Your Net Worth? (Perseus), a financial planning guide for women turned into a Public Television Show. Her forthcoming book – The Socially Savvy Advisor: Compliant Social Media for the Financial Industry (Wiley) – is due out this Fall.

Jennifer is a columnist for Dow Jones’ MarketWatch and chair of Consumer Action’s Advisory Board. A Rotary Scholar and member of the New York Economic Club, she holds an MBA and BA from UCLA.
