Role Description

The group applications manager is responsible for managing the operational support, maintenance, and development activities for front end business applications. The position combines managerial responsibilities with in-depth hands-on technical expertise. The manager is responsible for appropriate staffing, staff management, performance management, and continuous service improvement.

Essential duties and responsibilities

* Provide oversight and management to the front-end application team to deliver IT services
* Assesses user needs to provide support and proactive service, including analysis of opportunities in order to take advantage of available tools i.e. Mercury, Talent.
* Acts as a focal point for communicating related system problems within the department and collaborates with other teams and vendors on changes, fixes, and updates
* Manages the release process for applications which includes effective department wide and end user communication
* Manages testing scripts and identifies opportunities for improvement
* Negotiates resolution of conflicting requirements across the agencies and/or departments
* Sets and measures performance objectives and provides regular one-on-one feedback to all members of the team
* Hires and evaluates the performance of direct reports and provides ongoing coaching and staff development.
* Addresses individual staff performance problems as needed
* Manages delivery and SLAs by guiding incident resolution, problem management, maintenance, and enhancement tickets raised by the end users for assigned applications

Person Specification

* Experience of implementing IT applications for a similar environment
* Project management experience through a project management life cycle (Essential)
* Database administration of front-end systems including day to day maintenance, troubleshooting and development
* Document Management experience (2 + years)
* CRM Implementation & management (2 + years)
* Understanding of CRM Systems (Essentials)
* An understanding of infrastructure and networks
* Able to approach challenges with a diagnostic approach and to be able to find new solutions to difficult IT and business problems.
* Able to work with 3rd party support vendor to deliver a high level of service to users (Essentials)
* Able to liaise with both internal customers and external companies at all levels in an efficient manner
* Experience of Business process Improvement aligned to support IT implementations
* Team Management experiencing in managing SME's, SA and Power BI Developers (Essential)
* Hands on' - Results orientated

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
