The Company:

The Company has the vision to develop a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels - more specifically to offer utilities a fuel to replace coal, enabling them to generate power without interruption while reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.

The Company produces and exports biomass to major utilities and power generators in the United Kingdom, Europe and progressively more to Asia that previously were fuelled by coal, enabling them to reduce their carbon footprint by about 80%.               

The Company is seeking a Chartering Manager, who will be working alongside the Chartering Director to negotiate and manage freight rates and contract proposals with ship owners and third-party brokers.  The main purpose of the position is to support new and existing markets and fuel supply contracts with cost-effective freight solutions. The position will report to the Chartering Director.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate and execute physical freight contracts with ship owners and brokers for new long-term contracts and spot opportunities.
  • Work with sales and marketing team to negotiate favourable shipping terms in off-take agreements and align terms with fuel supply contracts.
  • Identify cost-effective maritime freight options to support The Company’s portfolio of fuel off-take contracts.
  • Develop strong and effective relationships with ship owners and brokers.
  • Partner with internal and external legal resources to ensure optimal contract terms.
  • Prepare materials for presentation and approvals by senior management.
Individual Skills:                
  • 5+ years’ experience in dry bulk commodities chartering.
  • Experience meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff.
  • Strong analytical abilities, organized with attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel
  • Motivated self-starter.
  • Must be a team player, and work well as a part of the Commercial Group.
