Director of Procurement

Our client, a leading food and beverage company, is actively seeking a Director of Procurement to join their growing organization. The Director is directly responsible for designing and delivering on the overall strategy for procuring all ingredients, packaging, and indirect goods and services necessary to support the organization. The Director will also be accountable for managing current relationships with suppliers and vendors, as well as building and exploring new partnerships to ensure competitive supplier sourcing and pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assures supplier consistency on delivery and quality of goods, as well as cost certainty through implementation of long term strategies and planning.
  • Oversight of supply and commodity risk team, advising leadership on potential business risks associated with sourcing, buying, and quality.
  • Implementation and structuring/ improvement of supplier scorecard and evaluation metrics, as ranked against performance deadlines and standards. Emphasis on service that reduces total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Development of year on year productivity cost reduction plans and continuous improvement goals
  • Supports new product launches and development
  • Drives Design to Value (DtV) work with R&D, Operations, and Finance by evaluating current products and identifying and implementing initiatives to reduce TCO
  • Oversight of annual budget process, monthly purchase price variance (PPV) and procurement cost plans
  • Working in a hands-on environment and mentality, with the eagerness to get their hands dirty where necessary to evaluate business challenges and needs proactively
  • Oversight of procurement team training, mentoring, development and further growth and improvement to meet goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • 9+ years of experience in procurement/sourcing/category management
  • Bachelors Degree (Masters/MBA is preferred)
  • Strong experience working with global stakeholders
  • Highly organized with the ability to lead and organize others
  • Compelling negotiations and influencing kills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adopt multiple perspectives and understanding various viewpoints while working with stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain direction and focus by leveraging organizational abilities and proactive planning
