An innovative, dynamic, independent medical communications organisation, based in Macclesfield, Cheshire are offering an experienced Senior Medical Writer the chance to take the next step in their career; and become the Editorial Team Leader. Although, the proposed candidate will maintain a hands-on approach to writing this is a management position and as part of this role, the candidate will become a member of the operational team. This will require a high level of flexibility, attention to detail, self-motivation and organisational competencies.

  • Line manage a team of writers and editors and ensure efficient management of work in progress
  • Brief Freelance and temporary writers, when additional resource is required
  • Personally undertake writing duties on different activities based on project needs
  • Assist with development of concepts for editorial projects
  • Take responsibility for the personal development and mentoring of team members – engage in annual reviews and ongoing catch-up meetings
Skills and Experience Required
  • A strong lie sciences background (PhD)
  • Ideally 4+ years’ experience medical writing experience in communications or pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in mentoring and/or line managing junior team members
  • A keen interest in writing
  • An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • A firm understanding of at least one of the following therapy areas:
-       Cardio-metabolic

-       Infectious Diseases

-       Oncology

-       Hepatology

-       Neurology
