Estimating Manager, Solar
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Electrical Contractor who is actively growing their portfolio of Renewable energy projects and have created a new position for an Solar Estimating Manager, who will act as both individual contributor and team leader as the company continues to build out this division of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Review and incorporate historical data from past projects, subcontractor costs, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
- Prepare estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work.
- Participate in bid strategy and presentation meetings as requested.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures.
- Manage RFP process for necessary suppliers and subcontractors.
- Continual development of working knowledge relevant to the industry (project site visits, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/construction management degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience required.
- A minimum 3 years' experience in estimating, cost control and/or engineering experience related to renewable, power transmission, distribution and/or substation construction is desired.
- An advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential.
- A prior knowledge of scheduling programs desired.
- Understanding of Project Management Methodology a plus.
- Must have the ability to prepare complex proposals with minimal supervision.
- Good communicative and interpersonal skills required.
- Experience with electronic bid software.
