Fire Protection Engineer

They are looking for highly motivated, experienced individuals with strong analytical and creative thinking skills to work in all aspects of fire protection engineering including building code consulting, fire alarm system design, fire protection system design, security systems, occupant egress analysis, and fire protection strategies. Fire Protection Engineer Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will coordinate and conduct building plan reviews, interpret the building code, develop alternative solutions, prepare building design reports, and coordinate with fire protection engineering teams. The candidate will be responsible for the review and implementation of fire protection strategies and will coordinate on all matters with the design team and authorities having jurisdiction.

Fire Protection Engineer Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred Fire Protection Engineering) or Diploma in Architectural or Fire Protection Engineering Technology with a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a building code consultant or in a related field
  • Knowledge of Ontario or National Building and Fire Codes
  • Experience with Part 4 of the Ontario Fire Code. Specific experience in compliance requirements for flammable liquids and dangerous goods would be an asset
  • An understanding of fire protection engineering principles
  • The ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and industry authorities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and field reviews would be an asset
  • Professional designation would be an asset
