Head of Sales - Hedge Fund $3bn (AUM)

Selby Jennings are excited to be working along-side a leading hedge fund with circa 3bn in assets under management (AUM). The firm is a top performer in their space and last year outperformed the index by over 7%. The exciting hedge fund manage institutional and high net worth (HNW) money globally investor in number of diverse portfolios. Due to strong performance and a shift in business strategy, a position has come on to the market to take charge for the sales and business development for the firm globally, manage a mid-level sales employee and add additional headcount.

Although the role will primarily focus on delivering successful pitches globally to bring in additional capital, this position is fantastic for a candidate with previous sales management experience across the asset management space, who is looking to take a top-performing hedge fund to the next level and have a huge impact on the firm's growth.

The successful candidate will be joining a firm that take ethical investment extremely seriously, with a large portion of their portfolios prioritising European social and governance investment and will report directly into a c-level executive.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To drive global business growth and increase market share through the acquisition of new clients and markets.
  • To increase the firm's total AUM directly through global relationships and indirectly via further distribution channels such as placement agents.
  • To manage a dynamic team of 2, with additional headcount available to add where the successful candidate sees fit to grow, and to develop this team.
  • To help develop and commercialise products, portfolios and solutions based on clients' needs in particular geographic areas.
  • To have final say on overall distribution strategy and sales plans.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience (or relevant) in business development, sales or distribution across the buy-side.
  • Experience managing at least 1 employee previously in a similar context.
  • A proven track record in raising capital in both good and difficult market conditions.
  • An extensive contact list (rolodex) of institutional clients that can be targeted in the distribution strategy.
  • Strong interpersonal and written skills, great negotiator, ability to make quick decisions.
