Job Overview

One of the world’s premier Manufacturing organizations is looking for a Principal Engineer to join their rapidly expanding team!

The Principal Engineer will play a pivotal part in the company’s plans for expansion by bridging the gap between engineering teams to achieve efficiency and to create a unified goal site-wide. The individual will be responsible for constructing a portfolio involving mechatronic geared systems. Through a strategic approach, the Principal Engineer will evaluate different designs with electric motor integration, provide recommendations, and ultimately develop products for customer programs.


Responsibilities

The selected individual will be responsible for providing technical expertise on controls, motors, and power electronics, while maintaining relationships and activities with electronics partners
  • Demonstrate technical proficiencies for medium and heavy battery electric and hybrid electric commercial vehicles
  • Expertise in the implementation of sensors and motors into essential products
  • Complete trade studies evaluating various motor types and axle architectures
  • Understanding of system requirements for electric drivetrain system integrators
  • Outline specifications for motors, actuators, sensors, and electronics
  • Compose statements-of-work for motors, controls, and power electronics suppliers and oversee outsourced supplier activity
  • Supervise the development of mechatronic technology roadmap and commercialization plans
  • 0-10% travel required 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electric Engineering, or Systems Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in a mechatronics or electrical engineering role with experience leading and implementing complex mechatronic systems
  • Good understanding of electric motor topologies and hybrid and battery electric systems
  • Good understanding of complex systems, including mechanical systems, geared systems, electromechanical devices, electric traction motors, and electrical control units
  • Knowledge of the capability and application of various analytical tools including MIL/SIL/HIL methods
  • Experience with PSIM and MATLAB and Simulink software
