A leading Environmental consulting and Engineering firm is seeking a Senior Principal Environmental Engineer for their Seattle, Washington office.

The company provides an integrated suite of environmental consulting and engineering services to a wide range of private- and public-sector clients. Specialty areas include environmental due diligence, site characterization, engineering/remediation services, natural resources, stormwater management, and mediation/litigation support. 

Position Summary

The Senior/ Principal Environmental Engineer must have a combination of remediation design, construction management, and environmental compliance experience.  More specifically, applicants should have well-established skills and experience in:
  • Remediation – Implementing excavation, in-situ systems, chemical oxidation, chemical reduction, bioremediation, and sediment cleanup technology applications.
  • Design – stormwater system engineering
  • Construction Management – Conducting remediation work in conjunction with property development activities.
  • Compliance – Understanding federal Oil Pollution Prevention regulations; inspecting oil-handling facilities; and writing and certifying Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans and Facility Response Plans. 

  • Independently manage engineering-based projects and assist other project managers on a variety of projects for which civil/environmental engineering is required.
  • Manage project tasks on time and within budget.
  • Ensure that work products are completed in accordance with accepted company, industry, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform research and information gathering, and interpret laboratory and field data to support technical activities.
  • Prepare and develop client plans, programs, procedures, and activities to ensure project effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Provide input to and develop written technical reports, engineering design/specifications, and/or compliance documents for delivery to clients.
  • Perform quality control review and maintain quality to meet internal, regulatory, and client requirements.
  • Interact with client and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage group of civil/environmental engineers.
  • Mentor junior engineers in their skill development
  • Assist in marketing and development proposals. 
  • Maintain membership in professional organization(s) and license in the area of technical expertise.
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with company and industry health and safety policies and practices.

Requirements and Qualifications 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with environmental consulting services related specifically to engineering services.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Engineering, and a valid Professional Engineering License in the State of Washington (or the ability to obtain one)
  • Demonstrated skills in applying remediation technologies resulting in the successful closure of sites.
  • Engineering design team management
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated skills in clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
