An established national Insurance company is seeking a highly enthusiastic and motivated Product Manager to join their team. The product manager will have the duty of assisting with the creation of a nationwide auto product. The product manager will primarily be tasked with developing the design of the product and efficiently building it while permitting flexibility to conform to legal requirements and market conditions. Additionally, the product manager will define eligibility and underwriting rules, rating rules and instill guidelines for state deviations.   • Monitor the insurance product life cycle; create competitive products while constantly assessing competition. Be knowledgeable on products while enhancing business development and marketing initiatives to be prepared for emerging market opportunities.

  • Collaborate with the marketing and executive teams to develop state profit and growth strategies such as product positioning and selective marketing.

  • Create and suggest rate and trend selections for maximum profitability. Collaborate with the systems integration team and field organizations and coordinate the rate revision schedule.

  • Assess the performance of the book of business and address opportunities for efficient changes in pricing, segmentation, and underwriting and risk classification. Diligently assess loss results, conversion, retention and general position in the market.

  • An active member in developing a robust product management team sustained with Product, Regulatory and Actuarial talent. Efficiently utilize company resources and product management to create the most success, productivity and expertise.

  • Analyze data and make distinct conclusions based on market data, competition, regulatory and legal environments, claims handling trends and distribution relations.

  • Collaborate with the compliance team to address the department of insurance rate filings and market conduct exams and address consumer complaints while serving as a consultant.

  • Create and manage relationships with state regulators through official meetings, daily phone conversations, insurance department visits and industry meetings.

  • Conduct product changes through analytical research, recommendations to the Executive Pricing Committee, enhancing business requirements, managing the testing process and assessing prior changes.


  • Thorough knowledge of the personal lines insurance industry, product pricing and features, competition, and market conditions within each environment.

  • Professional qualities including diplomacy, effective problem solving and decisiveness.

  • Strong leader, coach, and project manager.

  • Excellent mentoring skills.

  • Able to appropriately communicate with Senior Management, discuss financial results and effects of tactics and strategy. Consistently collaborate with Senior Management to seek approval for product and pricing revisions.

  • Able to enhance underwriting, product and pricing strategies.

  • Very organized with sophisticated written and verbal communication and detail-oriented analytical problem solving skills.

  • Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and familiarity with SQL, SAS, R or similar database tools.

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics a related field or equivalent.

  • MBA and/or ACAS designation preferred.

  • 5+ years of actuarial and/or product management experience in the property & casualty industry.
