Top investment bank is looking for a senior market and operational risk manager to lead a team of developers  £65,000 – £80,000 AUD

The Group provides each major business in the bank with a dedicated team that works closely with that business to understand its particular technology needs.

The team is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across the bank. This includes market risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. The team’s personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.

Reporting to the Head IT risk management, you will manage the Market Risk and Operational Risk Technology teams and be involved with a variety of Java and vendor implementations. You will be part of an exciting and dynamic environment, leading a team of up to 10 individuals who are focused on technology, delivery and customer service. 

  • Managing and motivating a team of developers including supporting their career growth
  • Work closely with the business to understand business drivers and to deliver solutions that exceed expectations
  • Project management of development projects including project planning, task assignment, managing risks & issues, managing project costs and reporting to management
  • Resource planning and project portfolio planning in conjunction with the Head of ITG RMG
  • Communicating with the business regarding the release schedule, planned outages and resolution of production incidents
  • Continuous improvement of the development teams processes, tools and quality of deliverables
Ideal Profile:
  • Financial markets experience is required. Risk technology experience, particularly in the area of Market Risk, will be highly regarded
  • Proven experience managing agile development projects involving several developers, using formal development methodology
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure to provide timely and accurate solutions
  • Driven self starter who can work well in a team
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven track record of managing people and fostering a positive team environment
  • Previous vendor management or package implementation experience
  • University degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
