My Client is looking for a motivated, team-oriented, collaborative leader to support the growth of their fast-developing team of Fire Engineers and Building Code Consultants in our LOS ANGELES office. This person would play a key role in our Fire Engineering and Code Consulting Group, and would be responsible for delivery of technical engineering work, mentorship of junior engineers as well as act as a face of the organization in a business development capacity with existing and potential clients.

They provide diverse consulting services associated with building code compliance and fire engineering. Our work includes performance-based fire engineering, fire modeling, building code compliance, disabled access consulting, hazardous materials and process consulting as well as full-service fire alarm, fire sprinkler and special suppression system design.

The ideal candidate will be team-oriented, with a desire to help and support others. Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate as a team and work towards a common goal are essential. An ability to think in the context of building codes, standards and regulations, but visualize their impact in support of project design teams’ architectural vision is vital to success in this role. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture, substantial experience in Building and Fire Code Compliance as well as Disabled Access Consulting and have strong organizational abilities.

Key responsibilities will include:
Project-level management, technical review and delivery of engineering project work, mentorship and collaboration with junior to mid-level employees, project-level client relationship management and interface, development of best-practices and standards in area of focus.

Fire Protection Senior Associate responsibilities:
  • Develop building and fire code reports.
  • Develop performance based fire engineering and fire modeling analyses.
  • Develop fire alarm and fire suppression system design
  • Edit and write specifications for fire alarm and fire suppression system design
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and plumbing design staff and assist them with fire engineering and building code consulting related work.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors and developers to deliver building and fire code compliant projects into a complete and functional system.

Fire Protection Senior Associate Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture is required
  • 6-12 years of industry experience in Fire Engineering, Building Code Consulting and Disabled Access Consulting.
  • Registered P.E. in Fire Protection or Registered Architect is preferred
  • Effective communication skills with a team-oriented, collaborative attitude.
