A publicly traded Business Development Company focused on acquiring middle market private companies is looking to add a senior associate to their private equity team. You will be working directly under the managing director and be involved in all aspects of the investment process. The private equity team currently operates out of a $600 million fund targeting companies ranging from $3-$15 million in EBITDA in the consumer, business services and manufacturing industries.

Experience/Skills

  • Preference for at least two years of experience as an analyst in an investment or investment banking firm with exposure to M&A transactions.

  • An excellent working knowledge of financial reports and the ability to build complicated financial models.

  • Ability to utilize advanced Excel.

  • Strong critical thinking - must be able to analyze a business and quickly determine merits/faults.

  • Able to develop and communicate key findings and conclusions both verbally and in written format.

  • Able to represent the firm in meetings with potential deal sources and business owners.

  • Experience conducting due diligence.

Personal Attributes

  • Tenacious in meeting deadlines, with a strong sense of urgency and good self-management discipline. Capable of working effectively under pressure.

  • Organized and efficient, with solid ability to define priorities; good at figuring out the processes necessary to get things done.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. As previously mentioned, position requires communication with business owners, banks and other private equity firms.

  • Ability to work autonomously - there is limited administrative support

  • A confident team player who listens to internal and external input but can take decisive action.
