Senior Paint Automation Engineer required for an Automotive Startup

A Senior Paint Automation Engineer is needed for a fully funded Electric Vehicle Startup. With a recent billion dollar plus investment, the company is looking to employ up to 2,000 workers by 2022. Be part of something special in the heart of Silicone Valley.

The Paint Automation Engineer will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment alongside a highly motivated team. We're looking for a talented, dependable individual, with a proven track record of success. As a Paint Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for conceptual planning, working with robotic suppliers, and developing the optimal paint and sealer application processes. A successful candidate can facilitate project engineering teams to instruct a reliable manufacturing strategy, improve engineering concepts, and grow profits through Lean Manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping & Six Sigma.


This vital role will assist in future expansion planning activities and will support the new facility start-up from initial concept all the way to volume ramp-up.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and contribute in the implementation of manufacturing engineering's policies, specifications, procedures, and work processes within the automotive paint shop environment

  • Create and manage initial concept, design, the scope of work development, and full implementation for paint shop process equipment for Greenfield Manufacturing facility

  • Organize robotic application project teams to meet business objectives

  • Create, implement and review all manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and robotic cell layouts

  • Recognize, test and implement any new tools, equipment, and processes

  • Generate paint application buy-off requirements for suppliers (i.e. 20-hour run)

  • Find equipment and application specifications for paint robots and applicators

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • 5+ years of work experience in an automotive paint shop or similar role

  • Familiarity of Fanuc Paint Works

  • Capability to create Scope of Work for suppliers and contractors to attain desired results

  • Efficient with equipment & process planning, budget process, and simultaneous engineering activities

  • Six Sigma or Lead Manufacturing certification advantageous but not required

  • Experience with water-based paint processes a plus
